What is a Pip?
A pip (Percentage in Point) is the smallest standard price movement in a forex pair. For most pairs, 1 pip = 0.0001 (4th decimal place). For JPY pairs, 1 pip = 0.01 (2nd decimal place).
Pip Value = (Pip Size / Exchange Rate)
× Lot Size × # Lots
For example, 1 standard lot of EUR/USD: 1 pip = $10.00 USD. This means a 20-pip move in your favour on 1 lot earns you $200.
Lot Size Reference
Standard Lot: 100,000 units — 1 pip ≈ $10
Mini Lot: 10,000 units — 1 pip ≈ $1
Micro Lot: 1,000 units — 1 pip ≈ $0.10
Nano Lot: 100 units — 1 pip ≈ $0.01
